Underdeveloped cheekbones can sometimes cause flat regions on the face and are typically seen in people who have long, narrow faces or very round faces and flat cheeks. Cheek implants are prostheses that are placed by making an incision between the upper gums and the cheek or just below the lower eyelids. The surgeon then creates a small pocket over the existing cheekbone by lifting the soft tissue.
