Jeffrey Stone, DMD, MD
Dr. Stone, a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, joined Lowell Oral Surgery Associates in 1982 and currently divides his time between our three offices. A graduate of the University of Kansas, he received his DMD and MD degrees from Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Harvard Medical School.
After completing his Oral Surgery and General Surgery training at the Massachusetts General Hospital, he was named Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He later returned to the Boston area to serve as a Clinical Instructor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Dental School. He was still active in that position during his early years working for the practice.
Dr. Stone has served as President of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, President of Saints Medical Center hospital medical staff, Trustee of Saints Medical Center, and an American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery examiner and section chairman. He received the “Committee Person of the Year” Award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in 2006 while serving as Chairman of their Coding and Healthcare Advocacy committees.
Dr. Stone is a representative of AAOMS to the American Association of Dental Consultants, and he is a member of that organization. He served on the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons National Insurance Company advisory panel and committees for 22 years, and the last 14 years on the Risk Management Committee. Dr Stone has also served on the Advisory Panel for CIGNA Dental and is presently a consultant for Affiliated Monitors Incorporated.
The veteran surgeon in the practice, Dr. Stone, now specializes in wisdom tooth extractions, dental implants, and bone grafting for implants.
He has performed surgery on patients who have later brought their own children to him for surgery. He reflects: “I feel especially gratified when a patient says I helped to make a difference in their life.”
